The Two Fatalities Revealed in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Continue Manhunt for Killer.
The pair of scholars who were killed in the recent violent attack on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their killer persisted following the release by local law enforcement of the only individual of interest in the case.
Honoring a Lost Student
The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.
Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences online, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, especially her parents.”
The Second Victim
The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.
Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.
The Shooting Incident
Nine more persons were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.
Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a raid at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.
“We have a murderer out there,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.
He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”
Community Anxiety
Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our city”.
The gunman began shooting inside a room in the engineering building on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a authority told the media outlet.
Law enforcement that searched the lodging seized two firearms and two ammunition clips when the individual was arrested, the news agency reported.
Condition of the Injured
Among those wounded, a single scholar was released from the hospital, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.
A private school, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.
Further Tributes
Cook was honored at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that specific location as well.”
Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she served her chapter and fellow classmates,” he said.
The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to the Umurzokov family, friends, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his promising future.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US higher education institution with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents reported in the US so far in this year, according to records. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
