It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was underway.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
