An individual who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a youth camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males both between nine and ten.
The defendant was arrested after eight children and one adult became sick at the facility in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was concerning a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the man proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member notified the police again.
She said Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
